The American Gothic House Center is proud to announce the establishment of American Gothic House Center Endowment Fund. Many cultural, educational and historical organizations utilize endowments to fund and sustain operations.
The initial goal to establish an endowment was $10,000. An effort began two years ago to establish this endowment through donations. The Center raised $7,500. The Iowa Cultural Trust Endowment Challenge Grant graciously matched 2,500 additional dollars. In December 2012 the American Gothic House Center was notified of the grant deposit. The endowment is now a reality.
The endowment will be managed by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Income earned will fund educational programs and assist sustainability for the Center. Our long-term goal is an endowment that sustains the Center’s annual budgetary needs.
There is a surprising benefit with your donation. In addition to Federal charitable tax deductions, your donation is eligible for the Endow Iowa Tax Credit. This qualifies you for a 25 percent Iowa tax credit for donations made into a designated community foundation. Tax credits can be claimed by individuals, businesses, or financial institutions.
Your support is critical to the endowment’s success. Please contact the Center if you have questions regarding endowment donations. Establishing an endowment is the responsibility of any prudent nonprofit organization. With your support the American Gothic House Center will continue to attract visitors and provide education for many years to come.

The American Gothic House Center depends heavily on volunteers. Many volunteers provide tours through the Center and answer questions concerning Grant Wood, his family, his life as a painter and the numerous parodies on display, take pictures of visitors in costume and operate the gift shop. Volunteers are also always needed behind the scenes through a variety of jobs: data entry, gardening and curriculum development are just a few ways to help. The staff at the Center will gladly train anyone interested in being a volunteer.
The rewards in volunteering at the American Gothic House Center can be measured in the faces of the thousands of visitors that pass through the doors of the Center each year. If being a volunteer at the Center might interest you please contact:

Volunteering at the Center only requires a minimum of three hours a month and the Center can accommodate your interest and availability.
