The American Gothic House Center is open year-round.
The interior of the American Gothic House itself is open only on select days.
Admission fee of $5 per person ages 13-59 or $4 per person ages 60 and over includes the gallery, media room, use of costumes, and restroom facilities. Children aged 12 and under as well as Wapello County residents (proof required) are free. Group discounts may be available with advanced reservations. There is no fee to enter the gift shop. Restrooms are for museum patrons only.

If you are planning to visit the American Gothic House Center during inclement weather, please call first to be sure we are open at: 641-652-3352. We will follow closure protocols of the City of Eldon as well as Wapello County offices and schools in order to keep our visitors and employees safe.

Cost

House Hours
The American Gothic House is only open to the general public on the second Saturday of the month from April to October from 11 am to 2 pm and is based on volunteer availability. Admission is free and tickets/reservations are not required.
Please note: Visitors to the American Gothic House will only be allowed to tour the ground floor, as the stairs to the second floor are steep, winding, and have no handrail. In addition, the American Gothic House is not easily accessible for individuals with mobility issues, as there is a slight hill leading up to the house, two steps to get onto the porch, and one step to get inside the house.
